Gazimestan ist eine Gedenkstätte im Kosovo. Sie befindet sich am Schauplatz der Schlacht auf dem Amselfeld, in der am 15. Juni 1389 eine multinationale Armee von unter anderem Serben, Albanern, Montenegrinern und Bulgaren von den Osmanen vernichtend geschlagen wurde. Am Ort dieses Denkmals hielt Slobodan Milo?evi? am 28. Juni 1989, bei den Gedenktagen des 600. Jahrestags der Schlacht, seine in die Geschichte eingegangene Amselfeld-Rede..Im August 1999 soll die albanische paramilitärische UÇK, welche für die Unabhängigkeit des Kosovo kämpfte, das Denkmal der Helden des Kosovo stark beschädigt haben. Zwei Jahre nach der Unabhängigkeitserklärung des Kosovo gab die KFOR 2010 die Bewachung des Denkmals an die örtlichen Polizeibehörden ab. / Gazimestan is a memorial in Kosovo. It is located on the site of the Battle of Kosovo, where on 15 June 1389 a multinational army - consisting among others of Serbians, Albanians, Montenegrins and Bulgarians - was crushingly defeated by the Ottomans. At the site of the monument, Slobodan Milo?evi? on 28 June 1989, during the commemoration of the 600th Anniversary of the battle, gave his Kosovo Polje speech..In August 1999, the Albanian paramilitary UCK, which fought for the independence of Kosovo, is said to have severely damaged the monument of the heroes of Kosovo. Two years after the declaration of independence of Kosovo, in 2010, the KFOR gave back the guard over the monument to the local police authorities.
